Aloft

I owe a debt of gratitude to Caspar David Friedrich for inspiring this oil painting. Friedrich was the great German Romanticist who often painted the back of his figures facing the viewer. The term became known as "Ruckenfigur." I placed my figure on the prow of The Pinnacle, the most prominent topographical peak in Berks County. He gazes wistfully into the distance as crows fly by ominously.
