“Kindred Spirits” is an abstract composition, but at the same time may suggest two figures in a landscape. In fact, the two forms are split from one block of granite, so in some way, they are close relatives; perhaps siblings. I hope that none of my outdoor work is viewed from one station point, but that it is of interest from different views, and different times of day, and through seasonal changes.
The work titled “Braced Ring with Outlier,” while made of substantial forms, tends to focus the viewer’s attention on spaces. The ring forms a view of the outlier in the distance. As outdoor sculpture exposed to the elements and human interaction, all of these materials are affected by these conditions. They gain character rather than lose value.
