This is Emmett Culligan, the artist that created Oneiric. This is an inflated steel--stainless steel--with a galvanized coating on it. This is a fairly figurative piece actually, and it makes reference to some of my own personal experience with having children. This one is roughly based on the mother and child motif. Beyond that, it being an abstract figurative sculpture, it deals a lot with the formality of form and structure as well as the process of steel inflation, which is a process whereby I fabricate hollow forms out of sheet metal, heat it up in a kiln until it is 1,800 degrees fahrenheit, and then I pump air into the forms in order to inflate them to their final forms. Thank you so much.
