The church of Saint Catherine was built in 1727 and dedicated to Saint Catherine. The main altar is considered the most magnificent example of gilded art in Lisbon, and the rococo-style stucco decoration of the ceiling is one of the most outstanding of its kind in Europe. Yet, for whatever reason, it remains a secret visited by very few, despite its location on the edge of Bairro Alto.
Santa Catarina stop will be the nearest tram stop to visit this beautiful church.
