Kaitlyn Tucek - "In The Living Room (Alexander, Grace, Jason and their cats)" and "The Poetics of Space (Robert and the family portrait)"

My name is Kaitlyn Tucek, and I have two large pieces in Drawn: from the source, on view now at the Arvada Center.

What you should see before you are two paintings that I suppose (insert air quote here) shouldn’t be in a drawing show. Unless of course, you enjoy a little controversy.

You’ll notice my paintings combine various mediums and stylistic techniques, and aim to celebrate these variances in cohesive ways, especially drawing and drawing techniques or approaches.

Observational drawing has always been the core of my studio practice. It is where I began as an artist at the age of 14, in weekly figure drawing classes in NY run by my mentor and professional Illustrator, Jeffrey K Fisher.

To me, drawing is the most intuitive and honest representation of how I see this beautiful world around me.
