Vineyard/Wine Cave

  • Since then, the castle has had numerous owners.  Largely, the castle has been a private family home, but it has also been owned by the college, briefly owned by the Arts Counsel, and even fell into disrepair more than once.

The current owner, Francois Moyet, a Master French Chef, bought the castle in 2011.  He doesn't call himself the owner, instead referring to his role as the guardian or caretaker.  He has set out to establish Henderson Castle as a self-sustaining viable business.  His goal is to ensure the Castle is here for future generations to come.

While we are outside, a few areas worth noting...  Toward the bottom of the hill you may have seen our small vineyard.  This is where grapes for the Henderson Castle Wines are grown.  At the top of the parking lot, you will see the entrance to the wine cave. Just beyond the wine cave, you will see a gazebo atop the Hill. This gazebo sits on the site of the former taylor residence. That home was demolished when The Castle was completed. However, Frank wanted a spot for Mary to be able to remember her childhood home and built the gazebo for that purpose.  Beyond the gazebo, you will see a small apple orchard where we produce apples for our delicious apple butter. We also have a small vegetable garden which supplies fresh vegetables for our restaurant.

Beyond the gazebo is a large open area which has been the site of many wedding ceremonies. The Castle still hosts dozens of weddings each year and have top notch wedding planners available.  Please take your time to explore each of these areas.
