Borrowed Time explores the concepts of time and place. It consists of six wall clocks, each representing one of the U.S. time zones, paired with lenticular images that capture the impact of a natural disaster—such as a wildfire or tornado—before and after it occurred. The ticking of the clocks, along with stark visual contrasts, calls attention to the urgency of responding to our changing environment. In this sense, the work reflects the collaborative, ever-evolving process of art and action that Sympoiesis celebrates, where nothing is the product of individual creators, but a shared experience shaped by larger systems.
