Bronze Leaf

Located in Sally's Garden

Artist: Jean A. Faure (Jeanfo)

Born Jean A. Faure in Le Teil, France, in 1931, the artist known simply as "Jeanfo" has dabbled in painting and other art forms before dedicating himself to sculpture. "Sculpture must be lovely to touch, friendly to live with, not only well made," Jeanfo said. 'In its presence, we should respond and vibrate to life as we are able to see and discover beauty all around us. We must not try to make pieces of art which speak our language; we must go with them to the point where others will understand their language." He transforms steel into sculpture that imitates natural organisms in free formed compositions for private collections and public spaces.

Artist: Al Glann

“The inspiration for this piece comes from my reflections on my life experiences, and my sense that someone, some being, something was looking out for me. There have been times that I survived situations just by dumb luck or divine intervention. After many years on this planet I firmly believe that someone up there is watching over me and helping me along my path. It is my personal connection to the other side that I give thanks to for being a part of my life.”

'Al Glann grew up on a family farm in central Ohio. A graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, OH, he worked for many years as a commercial designer, illustrator and college professor. During this time, he discovered his preferred modes of artistic expression - sculpture and painting, in particular composite relief, casting, wire sculpture, wood and metal.

In 1996, Al relocated to Phoenix, AZ where he continued to teach and explore his sculptural style. In 2001, he received a Masters of Education from Northern Arizona University. Balancing life as an instructor of graphic design at the Art Institute of Phoenix, he forged a career as a sculptor in steel and bronze.

In 2010, Al retired from teaching and moved his sculpture and painting studio to the Metal Arts Village in Tucson. Since that time, he has shown his work throughout the U.S. and has pieces in England, Canada, Amsterdam and Italy. Al is represented by The Lanning Gallery in Sedona, AZ; CODA Gallery in Palm Desert, CA; Madaras Gallery in Tucson, AZ; Mirada Gallery in Indian Hills, CO; Casa De Tosoro Gallery in Tubac, AZ; and New Editions Gallery in Lexington, KY.' Artist: Joan Cavell

'Covell’s extensive background in painting, sculpture and design  has brought  her to the point  in her art career  where she is eager  to accept a variety of work, including such activities as the Designer Show House, the Hendersonville Symphony benefits and  Downtown Bearfooting, street art for Hendersonville.    Her two lifesized plexiglass bears, Grapeful Bear ( 2004) and Bullington Bear  (2007) preceded Miss Connie Mara (2008), the infamous goat that was stolen, recovered,  repaired, and residing now  at the Carl Sandburg Historic  National Park.  Her large oil of the Flat Rock Playhouse Youtheater was completed before the building was finished, giving Covell  the challenge of inventing a  landscape design for the painting.'
