The Government Palace and the University of Helsinki

The first administrative building, the Palace of the Council of State or Government Palace was inaugurated in 1822. It served as the Senate of Finland until 1918 and houses nowadays the offices of the Prime Minister of Finland. Opposite side, the Imperial Alexander University building was built after the fire in 1827 of the previous university in Turku and inaugurated in 1832.
