The Rotunda

Built in 1911 as a house of worship originally for the First Church of Christ Scientist, the Rotunda today is a cultural venue owned by Penn. The University of Pennsylvania purchased the building in 1996 as a strategic acquisition.

Rotunda unites diverse groups of people through arts and culture experiences and showcases world music, Jazz, Rock, Experimental, and more. University-wise, it is also part of FRES ARTS (Facilities and Real Estate Services Arts Portfolio), which unites a set of cultural assets that exist along the 40th street corridor. Rotunda elevates the quality of life for Penn and University City by providing access to the arts for multiple communities.
