Blackbeard's Ghost

"Blackbeard’s Ghost,"

North Carolina, AD 1700’s,

Story passed down through many generations.

Blackbeard was a ferocious pirate and fighter even to his end. In 1718, off the coast of North Carolina, a captain by the name of John Maynard tricked Blackbeard, and he was shot and stabbed multiple times before he died. He was beheaded, and his body was thrown overboard. It is said that when his body was thrown overboard, that even without a head, it swam around the ship three times. Of course, this is just a legend, but some say that they have seen lights moving under the spot where he supposedly died and that his ghostly body is swimming and searching for his head. Some have even said that they can hear someone crying, “Where’s my head?”
