Paulus Park

 Paulus Park is at the location of the old Spunner farm. In early 1841, George Spunner purchased 80 acres by the lake for just a dollar and twenty five cents an acre. After serving many years as a cow pasture, the area near the lake started being used as a picnic ground in the 1920s, with small rental cabins and boats. It was called Spunner’s Grove. Later  it became Pleasant Acres Park, and eventually the town purchased the property, renaming it Paulus Park. This was in honor of one of the previous mayors of Lake Zurich. 

     Our guide goes clockwise around the lake, so you better start that way if you want to make any sense of this. Head north up the sidewalk past the water tower and along Route 12. In olden days the road hugged the lake closer so just bear with us for now. The lake views will get better. Scroll down on your phone to see a map showing where you are at each stop.
