Ocean Wise Plastics

Plastics are deeply embedded in our way of life. While they offer many benefits, the rate at which they are pervading the oceans is cause for serious concern. It has been estimated that 8 million tonnes of plastic litter enter the global ocean annually. Once there, it can be harmful to seabirds and animals, who can get entangled by it or suffocate when they mistake it for food. Through multi-faceted research, citizen science, action-oriented initiatives, and sharing information, scientists at Ocean Wise combat the problem of ocean plastic pollution. Join Dr. Peter Ross on an audio tour of the Ocean Wise plastics lab.
