Down the Stairs - Yarrow planting

As you proceed down the stairs you will encounter pretty yarrow plantings.  These plants thrive in the Northern Nevada climate and are quite popular with local honey bees.  This variety, Moonshine, grows vigorously and the yellow is bright and cheery.  This plant also self-seeds easily and you'll often find volunteers popping up in other places in your yard.

As an interesting note, since the times of Ancient Greece, yarrow has been used in poultices, and ointments to treat wounds.  And today in our modern times, herbalists are still using this herb in extracts for things like digestive issues and to relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety issues.

Now as we swing to the left you will encounter our next stop.
