This video is called "39 Facepalms. Throughout a lot of my work, I'm really interested in finding ways to turn shame into a material or an action or to use it as a tool for transformation or creativity. So with this video, I made this around my 39th birthday, and I made a list of 39 different things where shame sort of exists in my life today. So there is a lot of humor and sort of self-deprecating comments or thoughts, and some serious stuff, too. So I took some of those comments and in the corner of my studio I taped them up in the corner and made these stop-motion videos of those statements sort of appearing and dissapearing, kind of like how emotions and thoughts sort of like flow through the body in an ephemeral and illusive way. This pile of tape goes up and down throughout the video. This is my attempt to take shame in my life and transform it into artistic magic in the studio. Thanks.
