Hello, I’m Vincent Obbard, the Seigneur de Samares, and it’s my pleasure to welcome you to my family home and its gardens.
I was lucky enough to grow up here, and today I’m proud to continue caring for this remarkable place.
Samares Manor has a history stretching back almost a thousand years.
The estate was first granted to a Norman knight who fought alongside William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, and ever since, each generation has added its own chapter to the story.
Over time, the gardens have become one of the Manor’s greatest treasures.
What began as a simple, practical orchard has evolved into a rich and varied collection of plants from around the world — a tapestry of colour, scent, and history that continues to grow and flourish.
As Seigneur, I see myself not so much as an owner, but as a steward. My role is to care for this house, protect its heritage, and ensure it remains a place of beauty and enjoyment for everyone who visits.
Through the audio tour, our guides will take you on a journey through the Manor and its gardens, sharing the history, and insights that reveal the estate’s rich past.
Highlighting details you might otherwise miss.
So as you explore Samares Manor and its gardens, take your time and I hope you enjoy everything this special place has to offer.
