2006 HP2 ENDURO

When the GS became too heavy for racing, BMW offered the 2005 HP2 Enduro based on the factory R 900 RR racer from the 2000 Dakar. Along with a bespoke steeltube frame, the HP2 got telescopic forks and the world’s first air-spring damper,  developed by Continental and 4.4 pounds lighter than a conventional shock. Overall, the HP2 was 109 pounds lighter than an R 1200 GS, and $5,000 more  expensive. Owner Scott Williams calls the HP2 Enduro “the Swiss Army knife of  BMWs, a capable street bike and a capable off-road enduro.”
