1979 R 100 RS

As motorcycles began attaining top speeds in excess of 100 mph, riders began adding fairings to escape the wind and weather. BMW designer Hans Muth responded with a  higher-quality fairing developed in the Pininfarina wind tunnel. It was the first from a  major manufacturer, and it was paired with BMW’s largest-ever boxer twin. The all- original and unrestored R 100 S seen here is owned by Todd Trumbore, who says it  might be Muth’s “finest design work ever. His designs are classic and timeless, possessing form and function equally.”
