Some buildings remember everyone who has passed through their doors.
At T54, two mysterious ladies seem to have returned for another evening out. Dressed beautifully and waiting patiently in separate windows, no one is quite sure when they arrived, who they’re waiting for... or how long they’ve been there.
Long before Antoinette and Massimo began serving Italian food inspired by Massimo’s roots in Genova, the building was home to Mason’s, an African American-owned neighborhood bar. During renovations, they preserved the original banisters marked with the letter “M.” Once for Mason’s, now perhaps for Massimo. He took it as a sign that they were meant to be here.
Apparently, the ladies did too. They’ve been waiting a very long time.
Someone please get them a menu.
