The tour will now continue in the hall. Please walk back out into the hallway and stop in front of the paintings to your left in the hallway.
These two cityscapes portray views of Providence in 1819 and 1820. Some major landmarks in Providence today, including the John Brown House, can be seen in these paintings. Take a moment to see what buildings you recognize. Some other things to note are the many ships unloading cargo at their warehouses and the larger extent of water in Providence at the time that has since been filled in.
