HISTORY: Sallie Bush Community Building (And An Exciting Update!)

Welcome to the Sallie Bush Community Center: a historic town hub with immense Green Mountain Falls history– and also a new, exciting future.

Construction on the Sallie Bush Community Center began in Spring 1949. It was used as a community building for the first time in 1952 – for a dance following Bronc Celebrations with a Bronc Day King and Queen competition and a square dance open to the whole community. Throughout the 50s and 70s, the Sallie Bush Community Center was the spot of regular record hops for teens, Square dances, and bingo games. After a few decades, its ownership was transferred to the Church in the Wildwood– with multiple community organizations tasked with renovations and re-opening it for use.

And, in an exciting turn of events in 2023, the Sallie Bush Community Center was purchased by the Historic Green Mountain Falls Foundation– an event that delighted the Foundation, Green Box Arts, the town, residents, and Church of the Wildwood communities.

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks as this space not only continues its historic legacy serving as a community center, but becomes a new space for Green Box Arts programming and workshops for all visitors and residents to enjoy!
