Continue downhill on Stanyan Street; cross Alma Street and head east on the north side of Alma. At 232 Alma is San Francisco’s largest joy perfume tree, native to south and southeast Asia. The scientific name is Magnolia champaca. The cream-colored flowers of this tree are strongly fragrant.
