1965 FARMOBIL

In 1960, BMW was commissioned by the Fahr corporation to designed a new utility  vehicle. The Farmobil put the 700 microcar’s boxer engine, fourspeed transmission,  wheels, and brakes on a small, rear-drive truck platform. Starting in 1962, some 1,000 Farmobils were built at the FARCO/Chrysler Hellas plant in Thessaloniki,  Greece; production ceased in 1966 or ’67. Most Farmobils were sold in the Balkan  countries, and only two are known to have come to the US.
