altered book in shadow box. 2020
I am my father's daughter. He always took the back roads to explore, not knowing where he would end up or what he would discover along the way. Although my explorations did not extend much beyond my small studio, I embarked on the journey with a sense of exploration and a little trepidation, not knowing how long this isolation trip would last.
I began by tackling unfinished projects such as this book piece. Because I was not willing to venture out to art stores, I worked with materials at hand. I have been accumulating hearing aid batteries since I hate to dispose of them and that was the final addition to the piece as they glow when a light hits them and look like stars in the darkness. Maybe a guiding principle for what will follow.
