Monotype, Collage, Archival Paper, Oil-Based Etching Ink. 2020
Silver Linings is a monotype, with collage that I created using the press at the Art Students League of Denver. The collage element is oil-based ink on rice paper. The stencil was cut, inked and printed on archival paper. The monotype and collage elements were joined together to show that the COVID events of 2020 created a time to reflect, and to re-assess current goals, life, and what is important, and not.
I have a home studio where I paint but because I don't have a press, I had to wait until the Art Students League of Denver opened up printmaking classes where I was able to use the press. I went prepared with a plan, and a focus on what I wanted to accomplish. Because this was later in the year - I had had plenty of time to get ready. This summer I painted, a lot, but wanted to produce prints that bought into the idea of the paintings concept adding richness to both - a cross pollination.
