Acrylic on canvas. 2020
This painting was a sense of catharsis from the cabin fever that I experienced at times going through the Coronavirus quarantine. The canvas reads counterclockwise as a cosmic vacation beginning at the parked motorcycle. The viewer climbs the trees to the right into the night sky, rides the crest of stars to the moon, flies down on shooting stars to the river below, and follows the water back up the mountain side to the overlook that the bike is sitting atop. Painting this allowed me to go on a mini vacation mentally while still practicing social distancing.
The virus has allowed me to express my true emotions, ideas, and intent more directly as an artist. A mixture of the social distancing as well as the intense nature of the times breeds a creative potency that I have been really excited about and grateful for.
