The Wichita Truck was made between 1928 and 1932 in Wichita Falls Texas. It was specifically designed to transport heavy equipment for the oil and logging industries. As you can see in the advertisement, it could carry up to 12 tons. This style was called the "oilfield special." They were known for their strength and durability, but the company went out of business in 1932 as the oil boom in East Texas began.
Do you think this truck will haul more than the truck in the front of the museum? Yes! This truck will carry 22,000 pounds; the Ford will carry only 5,000. Which would you want for your oil company?
