The day I got this shot at El Porto was very overcast and grey, and the surf was at best, knee high. I was seriously questioning what I was even doing on the beach and doing with my life. Fortunately, I noticed a line of pelicans to the north flying low on the water. They appeared to be on a collision course with the surfers. Anticipating that the pelicans would rise above them, I quickly zoomed out to capture both the surfers and their pelican counterparts above.
