In 2019 the Parks Department undertook a major project to completely renovate all the pathways around the Jamaica Pond. The total cost was $4,770,000 and included not just replacing all the pathways but new trees, benches, signage, water bottle filling stations, exercise equipment and an accessible fishing platform (which we just passed). The park became more user-friendly and the improvements have been appreciated by the thousands who walk, bike, run, fish and otherwise enjoy this space daily. We hope that you have enjoyed this walk around the Pond which has been put to different uses over the history of Jamaica Plain. It’s certainly one of the treasures of our neighborhood.
