9. The Castle Walls

Thanks to a thorough study of Archeology of Architecture, it was possible to identify the phases of construction of the wall, according to the techniques and materials that have followed each other over time. According to the study, the most striking works carried out on the walled belt are as follows:

First: The laying of granite blocks directly on the rocky substrate and on the remaining structures of the Islamic period refers to the second half of the 12th century. 

Second: The use of mediaeval techniques for the reconstruction of the entrance door, indicates the realisation of the work around the 12th to 13th centuries. 

Third: The recovery work carried out during the reign of King Fernando II in the 19th century. 

Finally: The interventions supervised by the General Directorate of National Buildings and Monuments, since nineteen thirtynine to 21st century.
