Sculpture 4 Answer

The answer is phase shift (wattling), by Martha Russo. This artwork is made of wattles. They are plastic and cloth tubes stuffed with shredded wood. Wattles are normally used outside when building new homes, businesses, or roads. The artist was inspired by wattles when she saw them after a flood near her home in Boulder County. Wattles normally are steaked to the ground to prevent soil from washing away. Here Martha frees the wattles from their normal job, creating new shapes. I see a piece that looks like a cinnamon roll. What shapes do you see?

Make sure to visit the wattles in the hallway and outside the building. You get a really great view of the wattles from the second-floor balcony, near the Dusty Loo Theater!
