World War II Memorial

The World War II Memorial is the newest war memorial in our nations capital. Dedicated in 2004, almost 60 years after the end of the conflict in1945. One of the highlights is the wall at the west end of the memorial. There are 4,048 gold stars, each representing 100 US military deaths. That means more than 400,000 soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, and military personnel lost their lives or remain missing in action today.
