Trail's End

From the end of this trail you can access the Caniff Visitor's Center, the Alligator Pond, and the trail heads for the Three Lakes and Flatwoods trails. You passed a Wildlife Observation house on your left which is undergoing renovation.  The Visitors Center will be open in the Fall and contains exhibits, animals and programs for all ages.  As the weather cools down in the winter, you will often see large alligators basking in the sun, usually on the opposite shore of the pond.

You can return to the parking lot by turning left and following the trail under the boardwalk, or going up the stairs and walking around the Caniff Vistor's Center and down the boardwalk to the return trail.  Turn right to visit the Alligator Pond or to pick up another trail.

Thanks for hiking this trail with me.  In person, Naturalist-led hikes will resume once or twice a week in the Fall along with guided hikes at many of the county and city parks in Charlotte County.  You can obtain information about these hikes at the Information Kiosk or at https://www.checflorida.org/.  Please consider making a tax-deductable donation to support these programs at one of the donation boxes or at the Administration Building near the parking lot.
