The Lake Association would like to invite you to come explore Rockville Lake in Belfast, New York. From the town of Belfast down Route 19 to Route 305 towards Cuba. Take the second four-way opposite Ramsey Road to Lake Road and follow it all the way to the end and on the left is our dam and the public access point for you to get out and enjoy.
The lake was established in 1854 as the fifth feeder on the old Genesee Valley Canal. The canal was abandoned in 1878, but Rockville Lake, along with Cuba Lake, still remain to this day. It is a beautiful historical place that continues to struggle with a true water source.
Whether you take a walk around the trails of the old lake bed, or kayak down the channel, decide to fish, have a picnic lunch, or just catch a sunset, this historic gem is a habitat for tons of wildlife. If you’re a bird watcher, you could be lucky to see some, such as eagles, cranes, redwing blackbirds, and so many others while you visit.
The Lake Association is seeking help with a restoration project to fix and restore the inlet and the dam issues that Rockville Lake struggles with to this day. We want to preserve Rockville lake and possibly bring it back to its former glory.
Please be sure to check out our website linked here and share your visit to this special place in history and Allegany county and Belfast, New York. I hope you enjoyed exploring Rockville lake and all it has to offer! Thank you! Hope to see you there!
