This parcel of land was owned by a prominent shipyard owner, Abner P. Neale in 1830. The current location is 528 West Main Street at the corner of Main and Pierce Streets.
While Neale's shipyard was not located on this site, but on Castle Island about a mile away in the middle of the Pamlico River, this parcel of land had significant meaning to the Black Community.
