Tommy has been fighting a lot with his parents. One day, his father drops him off at nourish NJ and tells him he’s on his own. He’s nervous and scared because he’s never been homeless before. But seeing the smiling Outreach team puts him at ease. He explains his situation, and the team immediately starts calling local shelters and agencies. Pretty soon, a bed opens up.
Once Tommy has a safe place to sleep, he really wants to find a job. He spends hours at the library looking at job listings. Applying for work is a long and frustrating process, but Tommy finally catches a break: He has an interview at a local bank! The Outreach team buys him all new clothes for the interview and pays for him to get a haircut. Tommy feels confident going into the interview, and a few weeks later, he excitedly tells the Outreach team he got the job!
Tommy loves talking about his job with the staff whenever he comes to nourish.NJ to pick up a bagged lunch. He used to feel alone and that he would never be able to overcome the challenges he was facing. He is so grateful to have Nourish NJ as his support team.
