Masha Sha - "Homo Homini Lupus"

My name is Masha Sha. I want to tell you about my drawing.

I let graphite play a major role in my drawing for its deep, beautiful, ever-changing, reflecting quality. I use tracing paper. It is fragile and very strong at the same time.

I also use black lead. I enjoy a close range shifting between the tones and using reflecting and absorbing surfaces in conjunction. Together with the crumpling of the paper, which naturally happens during the drawing process, they create a complicated surface of multiple changing reflections. The drawing appears slighting different from a different point of view.

Two words overlap: Syrlic and English. WOLF and BOAK. The name of the drawing is Homo Homini Lupus Est. Its is a Latin proverb meaning Man is a Wolf to man. In a reference when people are known to behave cruel.

1. I am thinking about being of states. Ambitious states.

2. Wolves are highly territorial animals.

3. I am thinking about a profound lack of empathy.

4. By overlapping two the third emerge. Something new, potential, unknown.
