The Baptistery

At the back of the cathedral on the other side, you will find the baptistery – a special area or alcove containing the font where baptisms take place.  The baptistery was built as a memorial to Sister Theresa Cundall (daughter of William Cundall who donated land for the cathedral to be built in 1869).  The baptistery contains a mother-of-pearl Crucifix from the Holy Land, as well as a number of pictures and statues.
