Stop Seven

When you entered Larch Island, you passed over an invisible threshold, holding your breath. To leave this place, you should do the same, although the boundary is much less obvious.

But I will help you cross over, once again, back to the town, and back to your own world. To leave Larch Island, continue along this trail. There is a point where the trail dips down, just slightly, then up again. This invisible boundary is subtle, but crossing it, while holding your breath, will get you back to where you need to be.

As you leave Larch Island, the legend of the walking trees may leave you– it has always been this way. It’s how Larch Island protects and preserves the last of the remaining Originals.

But the mission and the archive of the Larch Island Walkers Society remains, and will continue to do its part to preserve this place, and its story.¹

Thanks for joining me on this tour. Once you leave Larch Island, it's a short walk along the gravel path back to the bridge, and back to the start.

I leave you with a quote, something to remember the next time you're out for a walk:

“A walk is only a step away from a story, and every path tells.”  ²

1.Although the Larch Island Walkers Society disbanded in 1965, there has been recent talk about reinstating its mandate to map the changes to Larch Island. If you’d like to know more, or to get involved, we'd love to hear from you
