Photography. 2020
I was far from home, at a family wedding in Virginia, when COVID-19 made it's first big impact on our country. The day after it became clear that the virus was going to be affecting our lives for the foreseeable future, I woke up to a heavy fog covering the rural Virginia farm where we were staying. I spent several hours that morning just walking around the farm photographing the sparse, foggy landscape and ominous pre-spring trees while trying to make sense of the uncertainty that lay ahead. The resulting photographs mirror the feelings many of us had in those early days, looking for answers and comfort but finding only a hint of something recognizable.
Unfortunately a large portion of my practice involves traveling, something that has become very difficult to do safely and comfortably over the last eight months, so much of my work has been put on hold for the time being.
