oil on stretched canvas. 2020
These painting is from my latest series, "Home" which is scheduled to be exhibited sometime in the future at SPARK Gallery. While I travel between home and studio during the Stay-at-Home order for Denver's citizens, my process and subject matter reveals itself. I find it surprising the theme of "Home" has re-emerged. In the 80's I also created a series of paintings when I was forced to isolate at home recovering from an illness.
My art practice continues much like it has before. I have been a member of SPARK Gallery for more than 25 years and each year I have mounted an exhibition of paintings, created the previous year as a series and thematically cohesive. I've always kept a studio outside my home, although like many in Denver's artistic community, I have had to move my studio a number of times. Luckily, I consider my studio an extension of home so I continue my work schedule of painting in order to be ready for the yearly show. I do, however, miss the in-person contact I have with other SPARK members and friends in my community.
