My abstract work is a way to transform my emotional realm into a perceptible domain by way of a painter's lexicon -- color, form, space, texture, line and movement. This painting was created very early in the quarantine period of the pandemic, when I was having trouble sleeping through the night because of the fear and concern not only for my safety, but that of my elderly mother.
The pandemic has at times inspired painting, such as the creation of this piece, but at other times I've felt low energy or had bouts of depression when I have not felt inspired to paint. In terms of sales of my work, direct sales are down; sales through the gallery have been down and sales through art consultants have been down. In terms of exhibition opportunities, shows that I would have been included in were either canceled altogether or postponed to 2021.
