Apology to JB
JB,
328 million rabid coyotes and counting. Environmental economy + social justice < white privilege + petroleum.
Sorry,
NP
ps – here’s an oak tree and three broken promises.
Apology to JB is part installation and part written apology. It is a confession on behalf of Americans to our lacking commitment toward environmental action and change. The work references Joseph Beuys’ 7000 Oaks ecological intervention where in five years he led the planting of 7000 trees. A monolithic stone was planted accompanying each tree as a symbolic marker to environmental regeneration. In Apology to JB a single oak tree is planted with its accompanying marker while three stones lay nearby ignored (representing three broken promises or unplanted trees) to emphasize America’s failure to respond to the environmental crisis.
